Wine Review "Montepulciano"

Name: Montepulciano
Region: Gambellara – Italy (Abruzzo – Central italy)
Year: 2006
Producer/Vineyard: Villa Cerrina
Purchase from: Trader Joes - 5 bucks

Taste
Light/soft tannins with a smooth taste. Almost like drinking flavored water to be honest! However this region of Italy is popular for soft tannins and the wines are typically consumed very young. Considering all this my taste buds would pass on a “Montepulciano” wine grape in the future.

Appearance
The color of the wine is very light and the coloration from the center becomes almost clear as you look at the wine up to light. Again this region is popular for its young wines and considers them Riserva after only two yeas of aging. For this reason you will see light coloring and smoother flavors.

Overall Performance
5.5 out of 10 – Average even for the regions standards. Hard to enjoy with any other rich flavors so I would recommend with light cheese or even by itself.

Great News About Cheap Wine!

Sure we all are looking for the next best cheap wine. Come on who doesn't like value! What if we all just reasoned to believe that cheap wines can have quality. Well lets take a little taste of heaven and put it back into our wallets. Taste can be cheap and it doesn't take a wine expert to know this. Books, magazines, and even some (limited) but some wine experts believe this theory. Cheap wine can be good actually very good. $10 bucks or less - there bubbling all around!

Its not just always about the wine but what you eat with the wine: check out Cheap Wine and Pizza

and for folks with a stronger stomach: Wine for Tightwads

Over all there are hundreds of cheapo wine talkers. Maybe its about time we start to listen.
